Bulgarian Artists Join Festival for Kids on Tour in Scotland
2010-11-05A new music festival for children is on tour in Scotland until 13 November, bringing together artists from Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, France, Mali, Sweden, Turkey and the UK, BBC reported.
The Love Music Festival aims to actively engage children in music through a combination of workshops and live music sessions.
Tailored to specific age groups, children are encouraged to work together to create and record their own music.
A bluegrass string quartet, jazz and beatbox are among the musical styles used.
By allowing children to hear music from around the globe, it is hoped that the Love Music experience will be both cultural and educational.
Stephen Deazley, festival organiser and composer, said: "In my working lifetime I have witnessed the emergence of a slow but revolutionary way of developing creative music projects for young people in schools."
Schoolchildren between the ages of four and 18, and their teachers, have been involved in outreach workshops in preparation for musicians who will visit their area.
Each day is tailored at a specific age group.
The festival culminates in a day of workshops and activities for all the family at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, on 13 November.
