Orthodox Christians Celebrate Christmas
2011-01-07Most Orthodox Christians worldwide observe Christmas on Friday, two weeks after other Christians held their observance of the holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Orthodox churches in Russia, Armenia, Macedonia and Greece, among others, started their Christmas eve celebrations Thursday. They all follow the ancient Julian calendar.
Bulgaria, however, makes an exception, as it celebrate Christmas on December 25 together with the Roman Catholic Church and others.
