Varna Awarded as Bulgarias Best City to Live In
2010-11-15The Black Sea capital of Varna has been announced once again "Bulgaria's Best City to Live in."
The official ceremony will be held Monday at 11:30 am in the National History Museum in downtown Sofia where the Minister of Regional Development, Rosen Plevneliev, will bestow the award.
The ranking is put together for the fourth year in a row by Darik Radio and the Bulgarian daily 24 Chasa (24 Hours).
In the ranking of 27 cities and towns in Bulgaria, each one was evaluated using 25 criteria.
In addition to the "Bulgaria's Best City to Live in" title, the ranking this year includes awards for "Business City" and "Green City."
In the four years of the ranking, Varna has won the title three times – in 2007, 2008 and now.
In 2009, it was the capital Sofia which received the maximum number of points in the areas of: investment in infrastructure projects, shop hours, number of restaurants with varying cuisine, nice places to drink coffee in the center, the number of non-stop pharmacies, the availability of equipment for the treatment of heart attacks, airports, number of universities and high schools.
